Spirit of the University of Mexico (Pico Prieto)
Spirit of the University of Mexico
Much to my surprise I found that to be Mexican by birth is the sine qua non to be eligible for the rectory of the UNAM. For many the most natural look, however, since time immemorial, this fact alone, it may seem unjust, has strengthened as parochial nationalism as dangerous and difficult for us to identify. We may look as natural as the taste of our own saliva, which often confuses us without realizing it.
The university, for better or for worse, is our intellectual watchtower and open channel to receive and broadcast waves academic theory and higher frequency. However, for years not to prejudice us manage to prescribe a filter on the most sensitive part of its structure academic / administrative. Surely to preserve something of our intellectual virginity and most expensive of our Mexican. I have no doubt that since establishing such a requirement was forged in the end "The University Native of Mexico?.
Perhaps the reason behind this laudable but dangerous idea was to insulate the institution of many management problems and ensure a smooth start to avoid friction, in particular, the idiosyncratic nature among others. The cost to pay for these good wishes in the long run was not least: an excessive commitment to the customs of today and after long keeping us hostage, often without even perceive it.
Shortly before the Italian Renaissance, in its infancy home university was conceived universal, hence the etymology. The worrying thing for me is that our version tropicalized vitiated by such fundamental elements as the principles themselves. As a result brings us all the plagues of Egypt: recycle over any number of academic and scientific content, and only God knows how far away were the great speech. Also, being as a referee and as so many things, collegial opinions, right or wrong, as dogma cascade permeate throughout our society.
Strive to maintain the ideals promised by the university against the very principles of universality, apart from being a contradiction in itself, always something of a farce. A farce that leaves us open to anyway: the spirit speak for my race, that race is not interested or universality or many other things of that nature.
