Who joined the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) Program?

The Customs Trade Partnership against Terrorism ("C-TPAT") program was developed as a voluntary effort to protect the import supply chain from terrorists using one of the nine million cargo containers that arrive in the U.S. each year for smuggling personnel, firearms and weapons of mass destruction. If you analyzed the requirements and the reasons why you should join the C-TPAT program, which was launched April 16, 2002 by U.S. Customs and Border Protection ("CBP"), a division of the Department of Homeland Security, and compared it the program now, you would have noticed what has evolved. We have noticed that since many companies are starting to make C-TPAT membership is a requirement, adherence by the seller and the supplier of the service is becoming the norm rather than the exception. Therefore, not only are companies that can benefit from joining the program C-TPAT members are becoming, but companies are required to be compatible with C-TPAT and which are not currently eligible to participate in the program C-TPAT are preparing the same safety profiles.

The C-TPAT Security Profile is a summary of various policies, procedures and controls the company with regard to: the selection of import and supply chain business partners, recruitment practices, information technology (computers), physical security , etc. The safety profile is, in essence, the application of a company to the C-TPAT program.

Norman Jaspan Associates ("NJA") begins the C-TPAT application process, providing our customers participating in the C-TPAT program with customized security questionnaires, which send their import supply chain business partners (suppliers / foreign producers, the transportation service providers, customs brokers, etc.). The completed questionnaires were then reviewed and recommendations are made, where appropriate. Additionally, NJA visits domestic systems of our customers and leads a hands-on C-TPAT vulnerability assessment, documenting what written policies, procedures and controls should be established or modified. NJA then prepares the C-TPAT security profile.

In addition, C-TPAT NJA updates our customers the safety profile for the Internet portal, the annual assessment and validation phase (level 2 and level 3), and prepares our clients for the CBP validation visit.

If you are not currently compatible and suitable to participate in the program C-TPAT, do not post the safety profile for the U.S. Customs website. Despite the fact that the safety profile is not sent to the U.S. Customs website, the security profile allows our customers to demonstrate the importer and / or the supplier of the service and / or U.S. Customs (if the company is inspected on behalf of 'importer or supplier of services for validation) that meet the requirements of the program C-TPAT. Furthermore, the safety profile, which shows C-TPAT compliance, enable the service provider to maintain market share by being able to advertise with companies that prefer to do business with suppliers of services that are C-TPAT members or C-TPAT compliant....
